Questions about +231
Which country is +231?
+231, or country code 231, belongs to Liberia. Liberia does not share this code with another country.
What is +231?
+231 is the part you dial before a Liberian number when you call from another country. It replaces the leading 0 of the number.
What is the difference between +231 and 00231?
The + stands for your exit code. 00 is the exit code in Liberia and most of the world, so 00231 and +231 reach the same number. From the US and Canada, dial 011 231 instead.
Do I drop the 0 after +231?
Yes. The 0 is Liberia's national prefix and works only inside the country. Dial +231 77 012 3456, not +231 077 012 3456.
Can I text a +231 number?
Yes. Write the number as +231 without its first 0. Orange numbers keep their 077, Lonestar their 088, and your phone sends the text abroad at your carrier's international rate.
