+66 explained
The Thailand country code, 66, is what you dial before a Thailand number when you call from abroad. It is also known as the Thailand dialing code, Thailand calling code, or Thailand phone code. In the Thailand phone number format, +66 comes first, then the area code, such as 2 for Bangkok, then the local number.

Thailand's regulator planned 10-digit landlines by 2025. In 2024 it postponed the change until it sees a real shortage of numbers.

Questions about +66
Which country is +66?
+66, or country code 66, belongs to Thailand. Bangkok's own area code is 02.
What is +66?
+66 is the part you dial before a Thai number when you call from another country. It replaces the first 0, so 02 123 4567 in Bangkok becomes +66 2 123 4567.
What is the difference between +66 and 0066?
The + stands for your own exit code. 00 works in most of the world, so 0066 and +66 reach the same number there. From the US and Canada, dial 011 66 instead.
Do I drop the 0 after +66?
Yes. The 0 is Thailand's trunk prefix and works only inside the country. Dial +66 2 123 4567, not +66 02 123 4567.
Can I text a +66 number?
Yes. Write +66 followed by the number without its first 0, such as +66 2 123 4567 for a Bangkok landline, and your phone sends the text abroad at your carrier's international rate.
How much does it cost to call Thailand?
The dialer on this page shows the exact price of the number you enter before you call.
Is the TH country code the same as +66?
No. TH is the ISO code of Thailand, used in forms, addresses, and domain lists. The number you dial is +66.
Why do Bangkok phone numbers start with different digits?
Most start 02, but Thailand's regulator also reserves 010, 016, 018, and 019 for Bangkok and its suburbs.
Are 1800 numbers free to call in Thailand?
Only from a landline. A 1800 call from a Thai mobile is not always free; it depends on the carrier.
