+963 explained
The Syria country code, 963, is what you dial before a Syria number when you call from abroad. It is also known as the Syria dialing code, Syria calling code, or Syria phone code. In the Syria phone number format, +963 comes first, then the area code, such as 21 for Aleppo, then the local number.

Syria phone number types

Questions about +963
Which country is +963?
+963, or country code 963, belongs to Syria.
What is +963?
+963 is the part you dial before a Syrian number when you call from another country. It replaces the first 0 of the number.
What is the difference between +963 and 00963?
The + stands for your exit code. 00 is the exit code in Syria, Europe, and most of the world, so 00963 and +963 reach the same number there. From the US and Canada, dial 011 963 instead.
Do I drop the 0 after +963?
Yes. The 0 is Syria's trunk prefix and works only inside Syria. Dial +963 11 234 5678, not +963 011 234 5678.
Can I text a +963 number?
Yes. Write the number as +963 without its first 0, and your phone sends the text abroad at your carrier's international rate.
How much does it cost to call Syria?
A call to a Syrian mobile costs more than a call to a landline. The dialer on this page shows the exact price of the number you enter before you call.
Why did Homs and Hama get new area codes?
Syria's regulator, SY-TPRA, renumbered them in June 2026. Homs moved from 031 to 012, and Hama from 033 to 013, as part of a wider update to the national numbering plan.
Is a +963 91 or +963 92 number still active?
Not through Wafa Telecom. Syria's regulator marked the 091 and 092 mobile prefixes, once used by Wafa Telecom, as not used from June 2026.
The information on this page is accurate as of September 26, 2026.
